Brenda Gohr, USAF, Maj (Reserve)

Attorney

Brenda Gohr directly commissioned in the Air Force JAG Corps on Active Duty after practicing as a civilian attorney for a couple of years after law school. After six years on Active Duty, serving as a prosecutor at two of the largest and busiest Air Force bases in the world and ending as a Defense Counsel, Brenda transitioned into the Reserve to continue her military service.

While serving as a reservist part-time, Brenda accepted a position with the Iowa Public Defender’s Appellate Office, representing indigent criminal defendants on their appeals to the Iowa Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Iowa. After five years as a traditional reservist in 2020, she accepted a full-time Reserve position at The Office of Disability Counsel, serving as the Chief of Guard and Reserve Affairs. In this position, Brenda became an expert in military disability law as well as line of duty determinations and medical continuation (MEDCON) orders. She continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve, while pursuing her passion to continue to assist service members and veterans with these complex areas of law in her private practice.

Brenda is a certified disability counsel with all service branches and represents service members with their military disability cases through all stages of the Disability Evaluation System process. As an expert in Guard and Reserve issues, she represents service members on line of duty determinations, appeals—up to and including the BCMR and DRB. Brenda also represents veterans with their VA appeals before the Board of Veteran’s Appeals.
